I rode twice on the Chinese high speed train for about 1 hour each time an speed up to 200 miles per hour, at a cost of about $20. I enjoyed it. It was better than air travel, more room and without the security hassle.
I wish it would be available in our country. Unfortunately, it will not and not because we are not smart enough, it's because our political system, inefficient and corrupted.

I've ridden the HSR from Putian to Xiamen, China. Business Class seat $6.00 usd. Smooth as glass, quiet. Our US trains systems are stone age in comparison and ridiculously over priced.

Why on earth would the U.S. build something that is efficient and fast? The U.S. will jump on technology that would cost twice as much and three times longer to build. The U.S. has the most debt in the history of mankind, you don't get that title by being efficient.

If high speed train will travel from San Francisco to Los Angeles in a matter of two hours and airplane about an hour plus an extra hour of staying at the airport, train is more practical with a sightseeing view....agree???

I was just in Japan and took its trains. The Japanese trains were amazing; clean, efficient, and on time (I have an atomic watch and the trains run with in 1-2 seconds). I have also ridden Chinese mag-lev trains...wow!

第一眼就看到体制问题
是有一定安全隐患，但是貌似比飞机安全多了。飞机出事大家觉得习以为常，火车出事，天就像塌下来了，居然火车也出事。

京沪高铁刚开通的时候，晚点半个小时一个小时，媒体就跟疯了一样大加挞伐。我今年坐了几十趟飞机，90%都晚点，怎么很少见到媒体报道？

客观的说，高铁有没有问题？有！
但是这些问题作为一个刚刚开始起步的交通工具而言是否是不可克服的？不是！
一直在说高铁事故。但是中国高铁出了什么重大事故？反正我没有听说，不过就是晚点、停车之类的技术故障。甬温线的事故是动车，不是高铁。
至于腐败问题，难道因为腐败问题就不搞高铁了？航空系统在采购、租赁飞机时没有腐败？汽车工业在生产、销售汽车时没有腐败？怎么没有听说有人说不发展航空工业、不发展汽车工业？
说句没有证据的话，我就怀疑有人看不得中国好，想把中国发展的好的产业搞垮。

抛开航班取消的不算 最晚一次晚点 大概晚点了6个小时。。。
在厦门遇到过飞机降落时候引擎吸了飞鸟，等了4个小时，英明神武马上改签另一班，终于在午夜回到广州。

个人观点是这样的：
如果某类设备，其发生故障，是出乎预料的，那么我们说再接再励。
如果，某些东西是未经正常程序就被采用的，那么我的态度是：MLGB的，请拉出去枪毙。
我们遇到的故障是哪一类，大家凭心判断吧，那么多正规报纸的新闻如果都没看到，我也没办法。
况且，问题远不止这些，我曾经在一个帖子里面问过一些边缘性的技术问题，大家各种判断，却没人能说个真正的一二三。
PS：俺一直用“高铁”这个词指“路”，即无砟轨道——高速铁路。
区别不过是上面跑了200还是250或者300的车。
不一定对，一己之见。
至于腐败，俺倒不是很强烈的反对，千里当官只为吃穿，一直不就这样吗。
问题是，完成贪腐任务之后，总得挤出点业余时间把活干了吧。
贪完了你把这路弄利索了我也不说啥，反正不贪那钱也不给我。
可贪了还弄出这么些事来，这就太过扯淡了吧？
723之前，动车在雷雨中停（慢行）过多少次了，723之后停过没有？
有人推脱723的雷是多少多少年一遇~~~~，那别的车呢？不到三个月的功夫百年一遇若干次吗？

腐败那里没有？这个根本不算是个问题。学西方民主的发展中国家只有比 TB 国腐败得更犀利的。

他们好像木有发展非正常流程釆用的设备而我们发现了。
而且好像人家木有撞车更没有

飞机速度是快，问题在机场等的时间太长了。而且基本都是听到这种广播：乘坐某某航班的乘客，我很遗憾的通知您。
