当年阿联酋（UAE）进行新型战斗机的选择，最终选择了F-16block60，但是开始的时候有很多的型号参选，除了F-16U之外，还有波音在F-15E基础上改进的F-15U/U+方案，增大了主翼面积，并且进一步提高了战斗力，但是由于研制风险较大被放弃。
