"PD-14 engine for MS-21 aircraft" project passed the "gate 5" milestone. A commission formed by United Engine Corporation (UEC) in order to carry out acceptance of the project’s fifth stage decided that major goals of the stage have been achieved and the "gate 5" milestone have been passed, press-service of Aviadvigatel reports.

«The commission included the specialists from United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Irkut Corporation, CIAM named after P.I. Baranov, VIAM, NIIT, Aviadvigatel, PMZ, UMPO, NPO Saturn, VASO, Siemens Industry Software and Lanit. The main objective of the commission was an expert review of the project «PD-14 Engine for MC-21 aircraft» documentation to find out whether the phase 5 main tasks have been accomplished. The commission has been working at the Perm-based design bureau Aviadvigatel for 4 days,» said in the statement.

Passing the "gate 5" stage means that the PD-14 engine design and parameters are defined and configuration of the PD-14 engine as the advanced product is approved. The next step is engine certification. Specialists of Aviadvigatel and other companies involved have done a great job to meet the goals and ensure successful passing of «gate 5» milestone.

The key results of the period between gate 4 and 5 are as follows: working design documentation for PD-14 engine and nacelle was developed; prototype PD-14 engines were tested and the target performance was reached; key technologies were developed and engine production cooperation was formed; certification was started; PD-14 engine and MS-21 aircraft passed the mockup commission stage, the press-service added.

Having studied the documentation provided by the Project Directorate the commission decided that: the scope and content of the information provided to pass Gate 5 "Configuration approved (working design documentation development completed) is sufficient; gate 5 criteria defined by the order of UEC are met; "gate 5" stage is passed and the project implementation may be continued.


One of the next goals of Aviadvigatel’s team in 2015 is flight testing of the PD-14 engine onboard the flying testbed at the Gromov Flight Research Institute, the press-service added.

In 2016 it is planned to deliver PD-14 engines for flight tests of MS-21 aircraft. Getting clearance for the first flight will be the key criteria for passing «gate 6» milestone «First prototype aircraft ready for the

以前是707、运-10这个级别最合适,现在是767吧。737、320太小,747、777、787、340、350太大,330/300航程不够
