A tiger cub‬ was found dead in a parking lot in Pingdu city, East China's Shandong Province, on the morning of February 19.

The creature was first spotted by a couple who lives nearby. They initially thought that it was part of a prank that someone was pulling. However, upon realizing that the animal was dead, they contacted the police. The local police later transferred the case to a government department.

Following an investigation, an official from the city's forestry bureau said on Wednesday that the 7-month-old tiger cub was being kept in a cage on top of the building by a Mr. Yang.

经过调查，市林业局的一名官员周三表示，这只7个月大的老虎幼崽原本被一个杨姓男子关在顶楼的一个笼子里。

Yang had signed a contract in July last year with a zoo to keep two tiger cubs. One of them fled the cage on Lunar New Year's Eve, most likely frightened by the ‪#‎fireworks‬ during that night.

该名男子在去年7月与一家动物园签订了关于饲养两只老虎幼崽的协议，其中一只在除夕夜时从笼子里逃了出来，多半都是被晚上的烟花爆竹声给吓到了。

The official said that the tiger is listed as a class-1 protected endangered animal in China, and only those who are certified can breed tigers. Yang apparently is in violation of the law and is likely to face punishment.
