The outer shell is kevlar + nextel (alpha alumina alloy), the structure is vectran.

Right, Kevlar and Nextel. I guess Nextel Aerospace Fabric 610, developed by 3M corporation, is going to play the primary roles of both thermal shields and micrometeorite debris shields.
It retains strength and flexibility for 30 minutes at continuous temperatures of up to 1100°C. Most importantly, it has Filament Tensile Strength of 2930Mpa and Density of 3.88g/cc. By the way, Nextel Aerospace Fabric 312, which is the shell that the ISS currently uses, has Filament Tensile Strength of 1700Mpa and Density of 2.70g/cc.
