i think you misunderstand or are misinformed. People from the asian nations all know that japanese imperialism did not start in the WW2 era. It started way before that. Korea has had to deal with the japanese imperialism for nearly 100 years!
The problem is that class A war criminals were enshrined after they were convicted and executed for their crimes against humanity. A country's politicians represent their country. If the japanese politicians really felt remorse for what occurred in the past, no visits should be paid to honor criminals. Not talking about civilians. This is a really bad look for Japan in the eyes of their neighboring nations.

You misunderstand it. Yasukuni is NOT about WWII, which what you are mainly thinking of. Yasukuni is where Japanese people pay deep respect to soldiers and civilians died in the wars for Japan from the civil war in 1867 to post-WWII. Nobody has the right to criticize any Japanese citizen visiting Yasukuni.

The Yasukuni shrine is a very sore spot for all the asian nations. It is extremely disrespectful for japanese politicians to visit and honor criminals who were executed for crimes against humanity.
