Ukraine has agreed to pay $786 million of its $3.5 billion gas debt to Russia, the European Union Energy Minister Oettinger said in Berlin on Friday.
本周五欧盟能源部长Oettinger在柏林说，乌克兰同意支付35亿美元天然气欠款中的7.86亿美元给俄罗斯。

The statement comes as Russia, Ukraine and the EU are holding a third round of energy talks in Berlin.

The Ukrainian delegation has produced documents proving that Kiev has transferred the money to Moscow, Oettinger said in an interview to Russia's TV Channel Rossiya 24.

The Energy Commissioner also said Russia was ready to continue negotiations on the gas price and supplies.

Ukraine is ready to pay the total gas debt to Russia that now stands at $3.5 billion, in 10 days, if Russia agrees to cut the price to $268 per 1,000 cubic metres, Oettinger added.

But, talking from Berlin, Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that if Gazprom receives the money, they will examine the nature of the funds, and after that the situation may change.
但是俄罗斯总理梅德韦杰夫说，如果俄罗斯天然气工业股份公司收到的钱，他们将探究资金的性质，然后情况才会有所改变。

“First we need to make sure they [Ukraine] want to pay. Any other way of posing the question is impossible. When I hear people saying ‘give us another price and then we’ll pay’… that’s rudeness,” Medvedev said.
