   In operation, other factors detracted from the effectiveness of the system - the AIM-9G carried by the F-4 at the time, by modern standards, was an unreliable missile - with no definite confirmation of an off-boresight missile seeker lock-on (the aural tone merely indicated a lock was achieved, not which target had been locked up) and a limited kinematic capability, the target needed to be well within the radar scan (within a 30 semi-angle) for a reasonable kill probability - in most engagements, pilots would have been better served manoeuvring the aircraft to put the target within the Field-of-View (FoV) of the fixed weapons sight. After the demise of VTAS in the late 1970s, the US Navy did not deploy any HMS in its fighter aircraft until the advent of the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS), introduced into service in 2002 in the F/A-18 and benefiting from integration with the high off-boresight (up to 90) AIM-9X IR missile and AN/APG-73 Fire Control Radar (FCR).

说明AIM-9G没有相当的离轴锁定功能。直到2002年,使用具有近90度的离轴锁定能力的 AIM-9X IR,配合AN/APG-73火控雷达,才有真正在战斗机上使用了头盔显示系统。

MD还是恐怖啊,目前空军海军都普及JHMCS和还有AIM9X了。。咱们自己的JHMCS啥时候才能看到啊。PL10也不知道啥时候能大规模装备部队。
额,料在哪呢。。。
