Closer ties with China can only be a good thing for both our countries. The economic advantages are obvious but the human rights ones should be too as I think China genuinely wants to improve. The trouble is that when you have a country with the population size of China change happens slowly. It still has a way to go but it has improved a lot in the last 15 years.

与中国更密切的关系对我们彼此来说都是好事.除了经济上的进步,我相信中国也真诚的在改善它的人权问题.问题只是在任何一个有中国这样数量级人口的国家来说,进步总是缓慢的,(中国)还有很长的路要走,但在过去的15年中,它的确进步了很多.

We'd be dismally stupid to 'look a gift-horse in the mouth' wouldn't we?

I am very pleased that Chine is investing in the UK and I welcome it's Leaders interest in our Country. Though many of us are somewhat sceptical about China's HR record - we help NOBODY by ignoring China. Many other Nations/States have WORSE HR records.

But I AM worried about China's 'hoarding' of rare commodities...

Really sad that the developed world is already... developed, and now we have to turn to the developing world to help us stay developed. Hope the developing world learns the rules that paved the way for a nation to be developed, and that includes proper human rights to its people. Democracy is all about people power, not just big fat wallets held by a few

很郁闷发达国家已经....(这个...大家都懂得）身为发达国家的我们不得不转向发展中国家寻求帮助以便我们继续保留在发达国家的阵营里！希望那些发展中国家能学习好游戏规则来铺平成为一个发达国家的道路，这其中当然包括他民众的人权问题。民主是属于大众的，不仅仅是少数既得利益者的特权！

From the time we bought silks,porcelain,exotic timber etc from China its been an uneasy alliance. Similar story in Japan.They wouldnt even allow traders into the country for many years. We paid for goods by stupifiying them with opium & when they objected we had a war !! Its a hard concept for the UK to grasp but, China is out for China, no one else or good relations Personally I dont blame them

Of course we need new markets, but lets face it, China has an appalling record of stealing intellectual property and reverse engineering technology to unashamedly clone and illegally profit from counterfeit goods on a scale which would dwarf the original deals. China is after global domination and Human rights are the least of our worries - at the moment.

China will be the largest economy ever - by virtue of population and technology aquisition.
Already our industrial base has been decimated by their developing economic strengths - more & cheaper !

Thus whilst their money will or can get us out of debt - it is not a long term solution.
We have lost our way as an economic power - and have been led down the garden path to our present distress !

We are a developed nation. But we rely on a service based industry to barely cover our trade deficit.

As developing nations develop, become net consumers and have sufficient infrastructure and talent to provide their own services - what will Britain have to offer?

Like it or not, our standard of living "currently" relies on global inequality. Investment in Technology for the future is crucial.

The human rights industry, its lawyers and pressure groups, are self-selected and have no democratic legitimacy. The exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims they make in support of their passport/compensation-seeking legal aid funded clients has contributed to a decline in respect for the law. I hope the PM won't imperil our foreign relations & future prosperity by pursuing an HR Agenda.

You have obviouly never been to a Chinese factory. Efficient, productive workers earning a competitive wage. How very different from the ill educated loutish British worker - layzy incompetent and more interested in striking than actually producing anything.

Understand one thing - the Chinese are not doing the UK any 'favours' - they got all the cash + are on a spending spree to buy up anything + everything! Now call me a sceptic, but the Chinese remember their history very well + are nationalistic to the point of insanity - I suspect revenge is not far off folks!

但其实很多发达国家的人们已经注意到产业空心化对国家发展的伤害,强大如美国也如此;意识到这些的人们提议将制造业移回本国造就更多的就业机会和回复实体经济,使本国经济回复健康的循环发展!但这谈何容易,对于霸住中低端制造业不放,层层往上吃上游产业链直到吃掉高端制造业和装备业的时候,那些又有银行家会计师和律师的国家的最后一层底裤也会被撤掉,只好去裸奔啦!哈哈哈!!!

期待能看到100年国庆阅兵大典四方来朝的盛况呀!
