Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has started the elaboration of State arms program for 2016-2025. The ministry is ready to acquire 50 Yak-130 operational trainers in the network of the new state program, Kommersant reports.
A source close to the office of the Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, told about the elaboration of new program. According to him, this work is being overseen by the head of Joint Staff, Valery Gerasimov, and Deputy Minister of Defense, Yuri Borisov.
The first steps have been taken in the area of aviation. MoD and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) have reached the agreement onpurchase of 50 Yak-130 operational trainers. The total value of this contract may reach 23 billion rubles. The jets will be manufactured by Irkutsk aviation plant. "The enterprise will have no problems – its production capacities allow manufacturing even more jets of the type", — the source noted.
The purchase of additional aircraft is necessary for aviation academies. "We plan to restore the Krasnodar, Syzran and Chelyabinsk air force academies, — said the source. — the pilot training is one of the top-priority objectives of the air forces".
We remind you that according to the existing State Arms Program for 2011-2020 the air forces intend to take delivery of 65 Yak-130s until 2017. The negotiations regarding the price of Yak-130 jet have preceded the signing of corresponding contracts in 2011. The air forces insisted that the price of Yak-130 should be lowered from 462 million rubles to 444 million, while the airframer wanted to increase it by at least 15% as compared to the starting price.
