MANILA, Philippines - The Department of National Defense (DND) today denied that local fishermen are being barred by the Chinese from fishing in the lagoon of the Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal.
Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said Filipino fishermen can conduct their usual activities in the area.
“There is no report that the Chinese are barring our fishermen [from fishing in the area]. We just communicated with [Coast Guard chief] Admiral [Edmund] Tan. He said the report is not correct,” Gazmin said in a press briefing.
“It was inaccurately written in the papers that our Filipino fishermen are being prevented [from fishing],” he added.
Gazmin said there were even times when local fishermen outnumber Chinese fishermen.
“There are times their (China) fishermen were more than ours. There are also times that we have more fishermen than they do,” he said.
Gazmin, however, admitted that there are more Chinese officially-marked vessels in the area.
He said three Chinese maritime surveillance vessels and a ship from China’s Fisheries Law Enforcement Command are still in the Panatag Shoal.
The Philippines’ claim, on the other hand, is being asserted by Coast Guard ship Edsa Dos and a vessel owned by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

不知道。国内媒体都是转载菲律宾那边的新闻。。。。。我觉得是没有让他们进入泻湖。但是现在估计菲佣面子上挂不住。就出来说TG没有阻止他们的渔民。

我觉得不让他们进入泻湖是可能的，但是周边海域并没有完全阻拦，毕竟穿职业不是那么多，面积有太大，阻拦不过来

菲佣国防部官员说：兔子没有“阻止”菲佣渔民，我们问了海岸警卫队的某人，某人说报纸之前的报道不够准确，现在只是中国人的渔船数量比我们多（但是没肯定也没否认菲佣渔民已经进不去潟湖了）。
