On December 20, 2010 the Pentagon awarded Lockheed Martin an order worth over $916 million, for the delivery of 226 ‘tactical missiles’ and 24 launcher modification kits, plus logistical support to be delivered under Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the UAE and Taiwan.

The intentions of Taiwan to acquire ATACMS (or MLRS for this matter) were never publicized, and the country don’t have MLRS, GMLRS or HIMARS in its inventory, which could require modification for the U.S. missile, therefore the actual identity of these missiles or their delivery to Taiwan is still a mystery…

Lockheed Martin Corp., Grand Prairie, Texas, was awarded on Dec. 20 a $916,165,020 firm-fixed-price, with some cost-plus-fixed-fee contract line item numbers, contract. BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems, Inc., Greenlawn, N.Y., is being awarded a $25,472,769 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-priced contract (N00019-08-C-0061) to exercise an option for the procurement and integration of various CXP identification friend or foe hardware for the Navy, Army, and Air Force; and the governments of Canada, Taiwan, and Saudi Arabia. Hardware being procured includes common digital transponders, mounts, receivers and transmitters, signal processors, power supplies, battery packs, and Mode 5 modification kits. Work will be performed in Greenlawn, N.Y., and is expected to be completed in August 2013. Contract funds in the amount of $486,506 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract combines purchases for the Army ($17,209,826; 67.6 percent), Navy ($6,119,022; 24 percent), and Air Force ($202,220; 0.8 percent); and the governments of Taiwan ($999,211; 3.9 percent), Canada ($578,098; 2.3 percent), and Saudi Arabia ($364,392; 1.4 percent), under the Foreign Military Sales program. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
