COURT SAYS BARRIER IS ILLEGALThe International Court of Justice has ruled that Israel's controversial West Bank barrier is in breanch of international law.

<P>Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat hailed the ruling as a victory for Palestinian people.      
<P>"This is an excellent decision. We thank the court in The Hague."      
<P>Spokesman Scott McClellan said: "We do not believe that that's the appropriate forum to resolve what is a political issue. This is an issue that should be resolved through the process that has been put in place, specifically the road map."           
<P>The European Union called on Israel to remove the barrier from occupied land, ahead of the verdict.               
<P>More than 125 miles of fences have been completed separating West Bank Palestinian towns from Israeli settlements.                    
<P>The Israeli Supreme Court recently ordered the government to move part of the barrier deeming it detrimental to Palestinian movement and economy.                    
<P>Israel says the barrier has stopped suicide bombers getting into Israeli towns and cities.                    
<P>But the project has also cut off thousands of Palestinians from farms, schools, relatives and jobs.
