The multifunctional SU-34 bomber fighter successfully passes its tests at the Lipetsk Combat Test and AF staff re-training Center, said Vladimir Drik, an assistant to the AF commander-in- chief in charge of information provision.
In the course of the experimental exploitation of SU-34s at the Center for combat use and AF staff re-training, all planned flights for 2008 have been performed to check the combat performance of the aircraft, in particular, the serviceability of controlled and uncontrolled weapon and the flying skill with all kinds of suspension, including bomb suspension, he said.
Actually, the SU-34 is the realization of a universal airplane concept, the airplane combining high requirements for maneuverability and speed, on the one hand, and greater bomb loading and flight range, on the other. Excellent aerodynamics, greater fuel tanks, highly economic , by-pass engines with digital control system for flight refueling allow the aircraft to cover long distances. The SU-34's takeoff weight is about 39tons, maximum velocity at high levels - 1900 km/h, maximum range with in-flight fuel reserve - 4000 km.
