Boeing Announces New Rotorcraft Program: AH-6
WASHINGTON, Oct. 07, 2008 -- The Boeing Company today announced a new rotorcraft program, the AH-6 lightattack/reconnaissance helicopter[size=-5]

Designedon a combat-proven platform with a heritage of successful service withSpecial Operations, the AH-6 is designed to meet the currentrequirements of international military customers while maintainingflexibility for future growth.

"Boeinghas been approached by several potential customers seeking light attackand reconnaissance capabilities in a flexible rotorcraft platform,"Dave Palm, director of Boeing Rotorcraft Business Development, saidtoday at the Association of the United States Army's annual conventionin Washington, D.C. "We believe this system is a perfect fit for thosecustomers seeking long endurance, proven performance and 2,000-poundpayload within an affordable helicopter."


TheAH-6 features an Electro-Optical/Infrared forward-looking sight systemas well as a mount for weapons that have been qualified on theaircraft, including Hellfire missiles, the M260 seven-shot rocket pod,a machine gun and a mini-gun integrated with a sensor system. Acommunications package allows the AH-6 to connect to other aircraft andto ground stations.


Boeingwill produce the AH-6 at its Rotorcraft Systems facility in Mesa,Ariz., and will draw on that organization's existing secure supply baseto ensure on-time, on-cost delivery.Boeing Announces New Rotorcraft Program: AH-6
