The training programme was voluntary,according to the Want China Times, and nurses were trained by staff from ChinaEastern Airlines.

The uniform is adjusted to include a longerskirt and nurses who participated in the training programme receive a highersalary, a spokesperson for the hospital said. This increased salary isapparently because they take on an increased workload.

Bu Haijuan, the head of the hospital'snursing unit, said the outfits were designed to improve bedside manner.

"Nurses learn all sorts of technicalskills at college but customer service can be easily overlooked," Ms Busaid. "But flight attendants are specificallytrained to have a good attitude and manners.
