Izhmash Lands $400 Million Missile Contract
Russia’s Izhmash arms factory in Izhevsk is getting a healthy cash infusion from their own military, whose combined forces are ordering roughly $400 million’s worth (RUB 13 billion) of AT-16 Vikhr missiles for their Ka-50 and Ka-52 helicopters and Su-25 airplanes. The missiles are also used on their AK-630 Vikhr-K ships.
These long-range, supersonic laser-riding missile systems must be delivered by 2015.
Designed to take out ground targets and slow-moving aircraft (such as other helicopters) the Vikhr missiles are flexible weapons that contain two High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warheads in order to be more effective against reactive armor.
The warheads, combined with multiple detonation systems, makes the Vikhr missiles capable area-effect, anti-armor and anti-aircraft weapons.
Vikhr missiles are “beam-riding” missiles as opposed to laser-guided. They have a sensors that face rearwards to their launch vehicle. The vehicle points a laser at its target and the missile stays in front of the laser, “riding” the beam to the target.
There are disadvantages to beam-riding systems. Unlike laser-guided systems they can’t be handed off from one laser beam to another. They’re also harder to guide as they get farther away from their launch vehicle.
But they are much harder to confuse as their guidance system points backwards, and they can work with lower-power guide lasers, making them less visible to missile detection systems.
Bottom line, they’re also less expensive, which is one advantage no military can overlook.
“Given … Russian pricing, a range of 6,000 to 10,000 missiles seems likely for this order,” explains Defense Industry Daily. “That’s a good stock of about 36 missiles per platform at the mean, based on the projected size of Russia’s Ka-52 (140) and SU-25SM (80) fleets by 2020.”
“Because it is a high-tech product … Izhmash is planning to broadly collaborate with other companies, especially with those that will be part of the future Kalashnikov Corporation,” said company spokeswoman Yelena Filatova at a press conference.
Izhmash is merging with Izhmekh, the other primary small arms in Izhevsk under the iconic brand name Kalashnikov.
This will be one of the single ”largest state orders in recent years” the company has received, with almost 30 percent of their sales coming from the American commercial market.
The Russian small arms industry has been struggling for several years as it’s getting harder and harder to find people in need of new Kalashnikov rifles. The merger of these two companies is part of a restructuring that’s expected to make both more efficient and under the new Kalashnikov brand, more profitable.

MOSCOW, Jul 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s weapons and machinery manufacturer Izhmash won the Defense Ministry’s tender to produce Vikhr-1 guided anti-tank missiles, a deal which will solve almost all its financial problems, RIA Novosti reported on Monday.
“An appropriate contract has already been signed with the Defense Ministry. According to the contract, the company will produce and supply nearly 13 billion rubles worth of Vikhr-1 guided missiles before the end of 2015,” Izhmash said in a statement.
“For Izhmash, this project is the largest state contract on the supply of precision guided weapons for the Defense Ministry’s purposes in recent years,” CEO Konstantin Busygin was quoted in the statement as saying.
Izhmash said earlier that if it wins tenders and signs export deals, it will gain precision guided weapons orders worth 14.2 billion rubles.

Russia’s Izhmash arms factory, manufacturer of the legendary Kalashnikov assault rifle, has won a 13 billion ruble (about $400 million) Defense Ministry tender for Vikhr-1 antitank missiles. The order represents one of the “largest state orders in recent years.” Russian news agency Novosti reports. Vikhr is a laser-guided anti-tank missile, used by Russia’s Ka-50 and Ka-52 attack helicopters and Su-25 ground-attack aircraft.
Izhmash is to deliver the Vikhr-1 long-range, supersonic antiarmor missiles by the end of 2015, company CEO Konstantin Busygin said. Izhmash has asked the Russian government for financial assistance to complete its merger with gun-maker Izhmekh, under the Kalashnikov brand. The two companies, both based in the city of Izhevsk, have been experiencing financial difficulties and a sharp drop in production output in recnt years. The Vikhr-1 contract will enable Izhmash to tackle almost all of its financial problems, Busygin said in late May, adding its current debt stands at 3 billion rubles.

迄今俄罗斯反坦克导弹系统仍需手动控制，需要借助发射操纵台的操纵杆校准目标。新研制的自动寻的反坦克导弹系统能够做到“射后不用管”，但必要时射手可以调整导弹轨道。
一名了解新型“短号”系统构造的陆军军官对本报说：“导弹在飞行中不像美国人的那样自动制导，而是靠发射装置控制。也就是说，这不是第三代反坦克导弹系统，只可以算是二代半。由射手控制，还是由发射装置操控都是一回事。发射装置被摧毁，导弹就将坠落。”
然而，新系统的设计人员解释说，我们是有意把自动制导系统安装在发射装置而非导弹上。他说：“比如说，有三辆坦克在行驶。我们摧毁了一辆。坦克燃烧后会释放强大热量。这时像"标枪"这类反坦克系统接下来发射的所有使用热成像寻的器的导弹都会射向这个强大的热源，操纵员已无法改变导弹的制导。而我们的导弹则会射向操作员设定的目标物。”
此外，位居弹头的自动寻的器占90%造价，会与导弹爆炸一同损失掉。而“短号”的自动寻的系统在发射装置内部。所以说，俄罗斯系统的造价要比美国和以色列的低廉。设计人员还说：“美国和以色列的导弹每枚造价约12万美元，而我们的花费只是其六分之一或七分之一。”他还补充道，俄新系统不仅可以摧毁坦克和装甲车，也可以摧毁数百米高空飞行的直升机和飞机。此外，发射装置不仅有肩扛式，还可安装在装甲设备上。

这算哪门子不管？导弹打出去，照样要发射平台对导弹制导。红外和毫米波弹打出去，发射平台就可以直接闪了，无需对目标保持锁定，也无需继续对导弹制导。
你说的这种也就是个自动指令制导而已。最多危险的时候操作人员扔下发射器自己跑路，问题是放直升机上，要想不管，难道发射后驾驶员开自动驾驶仪然后跳伞？

玩过一个很老的直升机游戏叫《阿帕奇杀戮战场》，虽然老但是对美苏直升机模拟的不错。里面的激光指导虽然不可以发射后不管但是好在可以临时改变目标。也就是在一个目标释放干扰后可以在导弹没有命中前锁定比较近的另外目标。
