In Kalyazin，reconstruction of a giant 64-meter radio telescope has been completed. With the help of radio astronomy research it will lead and manage the spacecraft to go into deep space.

In December, completed a massive reconstruction Kalyazinsky Radio Astronomy Observatory. It lasted two years and was part of the Federal Space Program. After all the work will be completed, a radio telescope resumes.

According to Valery Grachev, Assistant Director General for Science Special Design Bureau of Moscow Power Engineering Institute, a radio telescope to replace the entire power supply system, reconstructed nadzerkalnuyu cockpit that hosts a set of transmitting and receiving equipment. In addition, it was possible to replace the small-diameter mirror, while the main reflector to improve the shape of the surface. As a result, the updated radio increased sensitivity that will help scientists to move into a higher frequency range of observations of cosmic radio sources.

Since the beginning of next year Kalyazinsky radio telescope will be a part of a research project "Radioastron." The "bond" with the spacecraft, "Spektr-R" (he is now in orbit at a distance of 1.5 thousand to 340 thousand miles from Earth) radio telescope will study the hyperfine structure of celestial bodies and to search for "dark matter", which, as scientists assume, must be present in the universe. It is already known that this project will involve scientists in astrophysics, and their staff will increase.

Incidentally, the radio telescope - one of the attractions Kalyazin District, Tver Region. Its like the famous tower flooded, like coming to shoot in these places by tourists. Locals often referred to as a radio telescope "ear", ironically, that it is near the village Tolstoukhov
