Yeah, at 8.7 we'll get to see more Antilles in Mumbai, while the common man goes hungry. Last night i was buying dry fruits in kurla when i saw an old man next to me buy a chikki for 2 rupees which was meant to be his dinner. It not that i've not seen poverty, but what hurt me more was the shame on his face as he handed out the 2 rupee coin. Is this the India that's in the news for economic growth? Whom are we kidding?

Correct, together with Indian politicians including Ministers and their Chelas, MPs, MLAs, Corporators, Panchayat Members and govt offices such as Excise & Customs, PF offices, RTO offices etc. to name a few, economy will grow very faster than any where in the world.

The important question is whether this growth in our economy can provide ROTI, KAPDA and MAKHAN to our billion plus population. May be not with the kind of corruption prevailing in the country. Bring down corruption and our economy can grow at a much faster rate and then only it can provide basic needs for all.

In Maharashtra, the Octroi levy is one of the biggest nuisance to businesss community.Especially there is lot of business activity outside the Municipal borders and so many things have to be taken to the municipal area for temporary purpose. Each time paying the octroi and more than that wasting time in the process is creating inconvenience to the people. Why Maharashtra is not abolishing octroi is a mystery. Too many vested interests are involved and to serve these interests, these people are holding the state to ransom.

There is no point in having 8% growth and double digit inflation. The growth is so meaningless for poor and middlle class. We have to redefne the priorities as a nation. GDP can not be a national objective. Meaningfull growth like mortality rate, reduction in BPL percentage, farm production growth, disposable income as percentage of income should be the parameter.

All this statistics are bull-shit, just an eye wash for the poor readers . Only the rich gets richer in India especially with the present food prices. India tops the most educated people,but the un-employment tops even that. So what bloody growing of economy you are talking about ??

All our FMs have been telling price of essential goods will come down for months but it is continuously shooting up. We have only politicians and not leaders! The growth is definite to happen, and the above said thing is not any overstatement .In fact we should become the largest food producers of the world, no matter how much a nation nurtures, everything is being done for food by mankind. If you consider the share of 8.7% that will go to Italy, Switzerland and different pockets of India (Raja, Kalmadi, etc. are hungry), there will be hardly anything left for the country. After making these allowances, China's real growth could actually be double that of India, if not more.

did some one bribe here too for the numbers? Whatever the numbers may be it doesn't reflect the growth of India. Growth is what we perceive and I don't see growth except in cities. The places (villages) where we need development are growing at the rate of 1% probably

What use is the higher growth rate of economy if the poor continues to become poorer and the percentage of those below the poverty line goes on increasing?

This is just to politically /economically hoodwink indian political idiots, too many of them. Indian market will just be exploited with its poverty line remaining in tact. Montek and Rangarajan are fit only to give lectures in the colleges; they do understand the core of the Indian economy

The Topic should be India Will become more poor by 2012 and Better Indians all should be Slave working outside India. I recall China has Self Dependt Economy. Indians are more poor than Than Chinese

If you consider the share of 8.7% that will go to Italy, Switzerland and different pockets of India (Raja, Kalmadi, etc. are hungry), there will be hardly anything left for the country. After making these allowances, China's real growth could actually be double that of India, if not more.
