Thirteenth test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile, sea-based Bulava, carried out Oct. 7, 2010 on board the nuclear submarine Dmitry Donskoy "was successful. According to the plans of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, after the successful launch of the Bulava, which has become the first test launch in 2010, will be performed two more missile launch: one - with a side of "Dmitry Donskoy" and one - with a board full-time carrier submarine Yury Dolgoruky Project 955 Northwind. When exactly is the next launch of the Bulava, is still unknown.
Missile test in 2010, regularly tolerated. They were originally scheduled for early this year, then moved to August and then in the fall. In the case of each transfer were called different reasons - the need for quality control and assembly of the rocket fires. In mid-September 2010, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said that, if unsuccessful launches of the Bulava will continue to be totally changed the system of production and quality control of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
R-30 Bulava (3M30, RSM-56), developed by the Moscow Institute of Heat Engineering since 1998, will become the main weapon of strategic nuclear submarine project 955/955A/955U Northwind. The missile is a three-stage, and its launch is made in an inclined plane, which allows launch of the Bulava on the move under water. Flight range of the Bulava will be about eight thousand miles. The missile can carry from six to ten independently targetable nuclear units with capacity of up to 150 kilotons each, and total weight of 1.15 tonnes
