Development
Platina was designed in 1967-75 for the Grisha III (Project 1124M) class frigates. It was later mounted on the Sovremenny (Project 956) class destroyers and on other classes of modernised ships. Sea trials were carried out on Grisha-class ships built in Kiev and Zelenograd between 1975-76. The sonar entered service in 1976.
