                                  Radical NEW Fincantieri "Marco Polo"
                                           An EPIC New Yacht!
Benetti yachts, in conjunction with Fincantieri Yachts, has embarked on a radical new design by Camillo Costantini. A dramatic departure in design, the new Marco Polo is slightly gothic, totally epic... and destined to become a topic of design discussion for years to come. Marco Polo is a contrasting mix of modern and retro elements. Among the more distinguishing features are the enclosed aft atrium and the 1930’s, bull-nose bow. At the same time, the round windows along the superstructure are reminiscent of an ancient cruise liner, yet the brush-stroke hull windows take today's offerings to a new level.

Costantini, who attended the University of Rome faculty of architecture, went on to become the art director for a notable design office in Rome, where he oversaw the styling and interior design of several mega yachts, including Lady Moura. After receiving a clear brief, Costantini set about interpreting a profile that synthesizes Fincantieri's long history and company versatility. Marco Polo represented a dream for Costantini; to work with such prestigious companies as Benetti and Fincantieri. What made the project more compelling was the opportunity to create something truly unique without the constraints of an owner's predisposed ideas.Artist Rendering.JPG

Marco Polo’s most transparent feature is the aft deck atrium. This window to the world encloses the bridge deck owner’s suite and a balcony to peer over the aft deck salon below. The bridge deck also contains a shell-shaped indoor swimming pool that can be used privately by the owner, or also opened to the owner’s guests. It constitutes the focal point of the aft area, a superb place to be engulfed by the surrounding views of the horizon.

Bridge Marco Polo.JPG
Marco Polo's wheelhouse is right out of the 21nd century. Although it looks like a ship that Captain Nemo himself may have created, Marco Polo's bridge is better suited to the commands of Jean Luke Picard. It looks to be one of the most high-tech bridges to date, but it also affords old-world navigation via glass roof panels.
MarcoPolo Pool Aft.JPG
From the swimming pool balcony, you can look down over the formal salon, which is located on the upper deck. The salon is also covered with by transparent dome, which brings in ambient light and gives an almost infinite view of the sea. What makes this enclosure so unique is the ability to be one with your surroundings, no matter what the weather is like outside.
MarcoPolo Pool Forward.JPG
The owners and their guests will live in a climate-controlled habitat with un-ending 180 degree views astern. The owner’s suite, located immediately forward of the pool area will benefit from seven porthole windows on each side for observation to port and starboard. The full-beam suite features his/hers baths as well.
MarcoPolo Skylounge Aft.JPG
The upper deck will contain four VIP suites with a corridor leading to the enclosed aft deck formal salon. The main deck will house up to eight guest suites, each with direct access to the in/out salon. A centrally located, straight staircase connects the two decks as seen to the left of this rendering.
MarcoPolo Skylounge Forward.JPG
Looking forward on the upper deck lounge, the central staircase graduates down to the main deck with a large open foyer between levels. To port is a casual dining/conversation table and to starboard, a grand piano awaits keystrokes.
MarcoPolo Walkway.JPG
Continuing with the old-world meets the new-world theme, the foyer has an elevator to one side and a staircase on the opposing side. Also note the contrast of modern walls against teak & holly style floors.

Marco Polo; Deck Plans...

The top deck is broken into three distinct areas; an arch with a heli-platform, an enclosed gym with 360 degree views and an external whirlpool /sundeck area located just forward. Tender stowage is located midship on the lower deck with launch garages to port and starboard. The garages will accommodate 2 RIBS, 5 PWC’s and at least one 30-plus foot runabout that will likely be retro in design. The lower deck will also feature the “Beach Club”, a bar and lounge area with swim platforms on each side of the hull. The crew quarters are also located on this deck and occupy nearly half of the deck’s length.
