His naval staff convinced him that this would be impossible to do and he relented back to 16.53"(420mm) .
For the 1943 H-42-44 design projects (the last design project before complete cancellation) this was increased to
18.9" guns with the same secondary layout as the original design.
The H-41 design was the last design intended to be built
H42 to H44 designs were mere projects to calculate the size of a BB armored enough to withstand
