Even if the FC-1 were inducted today, I'd see no great cause for alarm.
This plane is from the 1980s. It's suppose to be 60 to 80% of a F-16A which was introduced in the 1970s.
Pakistan supposedly paid $75 million dollars for the development of this aircraft. As I've said many times before, Titleist puts more money into researching a new golf ball and Tiger Woods would get more hawking it.
The IAF is so far ahead of them with our M2Ks and Su-30s (never mind the MKIs, they've nothing to match the basic Ks) that 50 FC-1s inducted today wouldn't change the balance much.
If and when a FC-1 gets inducted it'll have an unsteady source of spare engines, a weak radar, an untested BVR missile, an airforce that had never trained for BVR and a plane which is at best at "60-80%" the effectiveness of a F-16A. The F-7PGs they have now are about 60-80% of a F-16A.
What's more the FC-1 will tie up a lot of the Paki resources in setting up the plant and assembly line to build this ancient pterasaur. I guarantee you that it'll cripple their budget. There is no way a backward hellhole like Pakiland can begin producing even a dinosaur like the FC-1 and not run into major overheads. Fighter production offsets have fell far better nations. Australia (F-18), Japan (F-2) and Taiwan (IDF) had ended up paying astronomical prices for homebuilt aircraft.
The greatest danger to the IAF is the Mig-21s. Not the PAF's Chinese Mig-21s, the J-7s, but our own Mig-21s.
We lose more fine men to this old Russkie pile of scrap metal than the PAF could ever shoot down.
