Three Chinese engineers were kidnapped by outlawed Kurdish Worker's Party (PKK) militants in Turkey's southeastern province of Sirnak on Saturday evening, private Dogan news agency reported Monday.
According to the preliminary information, the Chinese engineers have been working at the thermal power plant belonging to a private company in Sirnak's district of Silopi at the mountain foot of Cudi.
The source also said that PKK militants, before attacking the thermal plant with long barreled weapons, kidnapped the Chinese engineers who were shopping from a nearby small shop.
To rescue the Chinese engineers, Turkish security forces have launched a wide scale rescue operation. The thermal plant has been constructed by privately owned Silopi Park Electricity.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists have abducted three Chinese workers in southeast Turkey and attacked a thermal power plant where they worked, injuring a security guard.
News reports said the workers, identified in some reports as engineers, were seized while grocery shopping near the town Silopi earlier on Sunday. Security forces had launched an operation to rescue them.
The terrorists attacked the plant with rocket-propelled grenades and rifles late on Sunday. The Chinese workers, identified as engineers in some reports, were abducted before the attack, private Doğan news agency said.
The General Staff confirmed the attack on the thermal power plant in a statement on Monday. But the statement made no reference to the abducted Chinese, saying there was no casualty in the attack.
