Huawei has said it is working on the fifth generation (5G), which is likely to be available for use by 2020.

The company said presently 200 people are working on the project and it has earmarked a specified amount for the research and development of the technology. It, however, refused to share details about the amount to be spent for the development of the technology.

Huawei Technologies official Wen Tong said that by 2020, there will be billions of connections and 5G can provide massive connectivity. The technology will enable people to have a fibre network like user experience on a wireless connection.

What is shameful that Indian telecom operators like Airtel and others were lobbying for inclusion of Huawei in "Domestic gear manufacturers list" so that they can bid for BSNL & other tenders!!!! I am aghast. BTW Govt decided to setup a lab for testing the imported equipments for back doors and spyware with the help of IISc, Bangalore. Do you know who entered into an agreement with IISc to do the same.... Huawei!!!!! NOW THAT IS SIMPLY CREEPY!
