        China said the response should be prudent and moderate and conducive to maintaining stability and avoiding escalation of the situation. What that means is China doesn't want the UN to do anything at all about it. Gotta love Beijing, always talking out of both sides of it's face.

        Another worthless pronouncement that merely gives cover for maintaining the status quo to repressive authoritarian governments, including the PRC. That can be the only reasonable explanation for saying they want to "maintain peace and stability in the region..."
