China bought it decades ago to study it (mostly avionics). This helped greatly to develop modern jets like the J-10A, JH-7A, and J-8F.
中国在几十年前买了一架米格29，并进行了研究，主要是在杭电，而后如J-10A, JH-7A, 和J-8F等飞机的发展在此都获益颇深。

It is interesting though, that China has got several MIG-29 in their hands for "Blue force" combat training use. They probably got them from Iran (ex-Iraqi planes) or from the ex-Warsaw countries.

The Mig-29 had systems such as Data-link, radar, HMC, IRST, engines, targeting pod..ect all of these were the latest systems at the time, and systems such as HMC were unique to the Mig-29. The only problem is that this was likely an export version which often was a downgrade.

我想问超大的大大们，我国真的有MIG29？那为什么还改进MIG21，不改MIG29呢？？

mig29的航电都能受益匪浅，SU27表示鸭梨山大
据说老毛子最开始是想卖给我们“支点”的，可是咱们却一眼看上了“侧卫”。可能这架飞机就是那个时候给我们做测试的吧。
