2/28/2008 - ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Every year in January, the Air Force selects a small handful of intelligence professionals to attend a competitive degree-completion program at the National Defense Intelligence College in Washington D.C. Master Sgt. Erik Schultz, 381st Intelligence Squadron, has been selected for the Bachelor of Science in Intelligence program for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Bachelor of Science in Intelligence is a full-time degree-completion program enabling students, who have completed three years of undergraduate study, a means of completing their degree.

The National Defense Intelligence College is a dynamic learning community with a professionally diverse student body of over 700, representing a balanced mixture of experience in federal agencies and all branches of the U.S. Armed Services.

All students must be employed in the federal government and hold Top Secret security clearances. The degrees, the Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence and the Bachelor of Science in Intelligence, are authorized by Congress.

Sergeant Schultz is a 13-year Air Force veteran and has been stationed at Elmendorf for three years. Almost immediately upon his return from deployment this summer, Sergeant Schultz will be leaving for Washington. According to Sergeant Shultz, he is extremely excited to be accepted to this elite program, and is looking forward to the challenges of being a full-time college student.
