            10月16日本人在凯迪网络看到下跪女工事件,悲痛与同情之心难以言表,她们是那样的弱小,不禁让我想起以前出来打工供我上学的姐姐,她们是同样的人,同样的社会地位,她们没有任何的社会资源,或许为了最基本的愿望得以实现,单纯无助的她们除了下跪,还能做些什么?我来凯迪这么长时间,让我震惊的事情太多太多,而大多数人或者或许和我一样处于旁观者,或许会说她们不是我们,但她们是我们的姐妹!

           悲愤中,写信至Emerson公司总部讨说法,甚至想到如果没有说法将诉之于法律手段,或许我也是简单而且冲动的!今天打开信箱,收到他们的一封信,里面说了感谢之类的话,然后附上他们的回应,英文如下:

Emerson cares about its employees and their welfare in China and across the world. We have made it a top priority to abide by the laws and regulations set out by the Chinese government in resolving labor and employment issues.

On February 18, 2005, an employee was hired at Astec, a division of Emerson Network Power, in Fuyong, Shenzhen. In June, 2005, this employee was found to have a medical issue.  She received medical treatment for three months, at Emerson’s expense.  On September 19, 2005, the employee officially resigned from Emerson, of her own accord. The resignation was signed by the employee and her sister.

On October 11, 2005, the employee returned to Emerson Network Power, Fuyong, demanding compensation. Emerson immediately informed her family and the local labor department. For two days, Emerson worked with the employee, her family members and the local labor bureau to resolve the matter. An agreement was reached on October 13, 2005. This agreement was accepted and signed by the former employee and her family. During this process, Emerson has gone above and beyond the requirements set out by Chinese labor laws to help the employee recover from her illness.  This is demonstrated in how we have supported the employee in good faith with a special subsidy. We sincerely hope that this former employee of Emerson makes a full recovery.
