Kind of an interesting role reversal, usually the shoeis on the o0ther foot. Actually it is pretty suspicious, the purpose of aJapanese company opening a call centre in the Philippines would presumably beto take advantage of lower labor costs there, so why be importing Japanesenationals to work there?
Unless of course they are unpaid interns, as thearticle suggests, in which case it does sound like some kind of dark company.

Those sort of loopholes only work when generous bribesare paid up front.

Not all that surprising. A few years ago, Japanesebanks in London were warned by UK immigration to stop trying to import Japanesecleaners and secretaries on high skilled work visas instead of hiring locals. Iwonder if the same was happening here.

I don't get it. Why import expensive JapaneseNationals to work for your company, when so many in the PI would love to havethose jobs even at a much lower pay rate.

Perhaps they are gangsters involved in "oreore" phone scams? I can't think of any other reason why a company wouldsend Japanese employees to make calls from the Philippines instead of havingthem do it from Japan.
