China has installed 17 sets of submergedbuoys in "key marine areas" of the western Pacific Ocean, state mediasaid, a move that could exacerbate territorial tensions in the region.

国家媒体报道，中国已经在西太平洋的关键海域安装了17组水下浮标，这一举动可能会恶化该地区的紧张局势。

The mission carried out by the Chineseresearch vessel Kexue "marks the first time that China has put an array ofsubmerged buoys on such a big scale", the official Xinhua news agencyreported late Tuesday.

"The buoys will provide importantscientific statistics about ocean circulation and climate," Hu Dunxin, ascholar at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told Xinhua.

well. if the aim with the buoys is todetect submersibles "which is likely", China bypasses the threat ofJapan, (or lack of one), and squarely focuses on vessels coming from the otherside of the pacific. Once China has total dominance over the China sea, only ashort time before it moves assets into the pacific. many assets, I am guessing.Lots of boats. Maybe build more sand islands. Create more bases. I mean, ifthis is the goal, to dominate the pacific by way of total control over nearlyall of Asia's seas, who is going to stop their advance? Of course, it could allbe scientifically based study...however, if one examines the air quality inBeijing, when did the CCP show much concern about environmental issues in thepast? Have they signed onto any clean air or water legislation yet? Sounds likea ruse to move more military assets into the pacific. What will the world'sresponse be? I don't think Europe cares much. What about the U.S? Phillipines?Japan? Most likely, the countries will be quiet on this. It doesn't seem soprovocative...buoys aren't subs. Eventually, though, while pushing and pushingwith little pressure. something will eventually slip. Am I mistaken in seeing abroader strategic goal here?

According to an update by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), China isthe largest outbound tourism market for the second year in a row, aftersurpassing Germany in 2012. The UNWTO states thatChinese tourists saw an increase in travel expenditure of 28 percent in thefirst three quarters of 2013.
However, this number is only the tip of the iceberg. A new report by Asiabrokerage group CLSA predicts that the number will double in six years, hitting200 million by 2020.

What I don't get is how China can have wellover 1/4th of the worlds population... seriously, how is that possible unlessthey have been able to easily feed all of them for centuries.. they say theyare polluting their country so they won't live as long (secret meeting of worldpowers 30 years ago) but I'm still amazing at how 1 country can feed and takecare of so many... of course they are going to over fish the oceans... how elsecan you feed so many people.... and their 1 child policy turned out to be"sons" not daughters as families made sure their 1 child was a"son" and now that's a huge problem for their society... I don't knowwhat to say about it in a big picture world but #$%$, what is their plan as acountry and people? Everyone says their market is now or soon to be No 1 in the world but again, what's theirplan... so many people... Europe, America even Japan is declining in populationif you exempt those migrating... at some point this is going to cause huge problemsfor them if something isn't figured out... resources are not infinite...even aswe make advances.
