BEIJING (AP) —China's latest manned space capsule docked with an orbiting spacestation Thursday, and the three astronauts climbed aboard what will betheir home for the next week, state media reported.
Automated controls guided the Shenzhou-10's docking with thespace lab,the Xinhua News Agency said. After entering the space lab, the crewexchanged their space gear for blue jumpsuits, Xinhua said.
During their 12-day stay at the lab, the astronauts will perform a manualdocking exercise and conduct scientific experiments. They will also deliver aseries of science lectures — part of an outreach to increase the spaceprogram's popularity among younger Chinese.
The lab, the Tiangong-1, is an experimental space station. In operationfor less than two years, it will be taken out of use later this year andreplaced by a larger, more durable module by 2020.
The latest Shenzhou flight the fifth manned mission in a decade in aprogram that has been marked by methodical advances to catch up with the othertwo manned space powers — Russia and the U.S.

China has made the commitment for a space program. Obamahas not. NASA funding is lowest ever (as a percentage) and account for lessthan 1/2 of 1% of the US budget. We send more money annually to countries thathate us than we provide to our own space program. China will pass us up in afew years unless our level of dedication to our space program changes.

Americans are paying too much attention on bashing Chinaand not eough or not at all in dealing with their own domestic problems whichmostly caused by their greedy coporations and useless corporate orientedgovernment. That is why China is doing better and better and US is doing worseand worse. China is not the cause of American domestic problems. Americanscreated their problems and don't not want to face and admit the ugly truth.Problems do go away if you don't deal with them. They only get accumulated.

They are slow (5 flights in 10 years) but methodical.They don;t seem to be in a race with any other country, but simply sticking totheir plan. We should learn from them, not the technology which of course isstill way behind ours, but their planning and execution.

I smell some jealousy on this post. lol. Good job Chinaeven with Old Soviet technology, if they keep the momentum up they will rivalthe US and Russia in no time. Congrats again for the sake of space explorationand discovery. America should be on board internationally with them and Russiaalso. The world would benefit from this scientific collaboration, sharedknowledge and valuable research. Politics serves no purpose in sciencediscovery.

All this whining about US/NASA not having a manned spaceprogram anymore seems pretty ridiculous. China is just beginning to experimentwith sending people into space. The US is already way beyond doing that. US issending robots onto Mars and to Saturn. And voyager is leaving the solarsystem. There is really no space race going on. It is analogous to one countryis still training pilots to man airplanes, and the other is deploying drones.Congratulation China, and China knows there is really no "race" here.But some people in the US are so paranoid or self-centered that when they seesomeone on a bicycle, they think their car is hopelessly outdated.

I smell some jealousy on this post. lol. Good job Chinaeven with Old Soviet technology, if they keep the momentum up they will rivalthe US and Russia in no time. Congrats again for the sake of space explorationand discovery. America should be on board internationally with them and Russiaalso. The world would benefit from this scientific collaboration, sharedknowledge and valuable research. Politics serves no purpose in sciencediscovery.

All this whining about US/NASA not having a manned spaceprogram anymore seems pretty ridiculous. China is just beginning to experimentwith sending people into space. The US is already way beyond doing that. US issending robots onto Mars and to Saturn. And voyager is leaving the solarsystem. There is really no space race going on. It is analogous to one countryis still training pilots to man airplanes, and the other is deploying drones.Congratulation China, and China knows there is really no "race" here.But some people in the US are so paranoid or self-centered that when they seesomeone on a bicycle, they think their car is hopelessly outdated.

China has made the commitment for a space program. Obamahas not. NASA funding is lowest ever (as a percentage) and account for lessthan 1/2 of 1% of the US budget. We send more money annually to countries thathate us than we provide to our own space program. China will pass us up in afew years unless our level of dedication to our space program changes.

Americans are paying too much attention on bashing Chinaand not eough or not at all in dealing with their own domestic problems whichmostly caused by their greedy coporations and useless corporate orientedgovernment. That is why China is doing better and better and US is doing worseand worse. China is not the cause of American domestic problems. Americanscreated their problems and don't not want to face and admit the ugly truth.Problems do go away if you don't deal with them. They only get accumulated.

Sure U.S. had the sky lab 50 years ago and China had nothing exceptChairman Mao 50 years ago. They are slow (5 flights in 10 years) but methodical.They don;t seem to be in a race with any other country, but simply sticking totheir plan. We should learn from them, not the technology which of course isstill way behind ours, but their planning and execution.

I smell some jealousy on this post. lol. Good job Chinaeven with Old Soviet technology, if they keep the momentum up they will rivalthe US and Russia in no time. Congrats again for the sake of space explorationand discovery. America should be on board internationally with them and Russiaalso. The world would benefit from this scientific collaboration, sharedknowledge and valuable research. Politics serves no purpose in sciencediscovery.

All this whining about US/NASA not having a manned spaceprogram anymore seems pretty ridiculous. China is just beginning to experimentwith sending people into space. The US is already way beyond doing that. US issending robots onto Mars and to Saturn. And voyager is leaving the solarsystem. There is really no space race going on. It is analogous to one countryis still training pilots to man airplanes, and the other is deploying drones.Congratulation China, and China knows there is really no "race" here.But some people in the US are so paranoid or self-centered that when they seesomeone on a bicycle, they think their car is hopelessly outdated.

· 那些抱怨美国和美国航天局再也没有载人项目的人真是可笑。中国只是在实验把人送到太空，美国已经超越这一步了。美国正往火星和土星上送机器人，旅行者号都飞出太阳系了。确实没有什么太空竞赛，就好比一个国家还在训练飞行员，另一个国家已经部署无人机。祝贺中国，中国也知道没有什么竞赛。但美国却有些偏执狂和自以为是的家伙看到别人骑自行车就以为自己的汽车已经无可救药的过时了。

All the oldNASA engineers who know rocketry are retired or layoff. All the new NASAengineers only know how to do video games on computer monitors, maybe theygraduated to a MadeInChina big screen TV. These gen-X only know sex and playChinese fireworks, not real rockets that the Chinese invented. The firstMartian will look like today's glorious Red Chinese. Reply
