The 8th RPIMa issued with FELIN
The eighth RPIMa (Parachute Regiment Marine Infantry) was recently issued with the FELIN system and then under- taking an intensive training session with the system at CENZUB (Centre d’Entraînement au Combat en Zone Urbanisée) at Sissonne.
The FAMAS FELINE variant has a new telescope which has a laser pointer and a camera for day / night operations
Each section has two versions:
- The FIR telescope, with an optronic sensing infrared
- The WIRE telescope, with light intensifier.
These sytems allow the section to increase its ability to observe day and night. With the arrival of FELIN, shooters have received details of a new scope for the rifle FRF2.
This sight can, like the FAMAS, be used for remote vision to take in and take pictures to report to the next level. This new telescope now has a laser range finder which carries up to 1000 meters. This allows the shooter to adjust his shot more effectively based on the distance.
It has two channels:
- A day setting with magnification X8,
- IR for night firing, with a magnification X6 or X12.
The telescope weighs about 3 pounds.
