The first batch of fifth generation airplanes may reach the troops with an "unrelated" engine, Russian air force CinC, General-Colonel Aleksandr Zelin, has reported.
"At the present time we are putting up the fifth generation airplane on an unrelated engine, that is, not on the one that will be on the series-built example," Zelin said.
At the same time he expressed hope that by the start of series deliveries the airplane will be equipped with the new engine.
