On April 22nd 2015 Irkut Corporation (part of United Aircraft Corporation) finalized its consolidated financial statement for 2014 (made in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards - IFRS), the company’s press-service reports.

«Despite changes in economic situation and ruble’s depreciation, revenues of Irkut Corporation for 2014 exceeded $1 billion 700 million. The company’s net profit for 2014 was $1,881 million,» said in the company’s statement.

Irkut Corporation is implementing the investment project for development of MS-21 aircraft. All the necessary investments (capital investments and funding of research and development work) were provided in full in 2014 ($137 million – in 2014; $130 million – in 2013). Following the results of 2014 the corporation demonstrated positive operating cash flow, which allowed keeping the company’s debt at 2013 level. This was possible thanks to active investment program and significant investments in the working capital connected with increase of the corporation’s output in the military aircraft segment, Irkut explained.

Irkut Corporation is successfully fulfilling its obligations under the signed contracts, including the ones related to the State Defense Order.
Assembly of the first MS-21 prototype should be completed in 2015, the head of Regional Marketing Department of Irkut Corporation, Viktor Lichaev, told RIA Novosti at LAAD-2015 exhibition held in Rio de Janeiro.

“We are going to complete assembly of the first MS-21 prototype in 2015, however, we are cooperating with other enterprises so delays are possible and the process may be completed in 2016,” Lichaev said.

He noted that certification of the aircraft should be completed in 2017 and its mass production should be started in 2018. “By 2020 we are going to reach the planned output of 40 aircraft per year,” he said.

According to Lichaev, MS-21 jets delivered to Russian companies will be powered by PD-14 engines, while the jets delivered to foreign customers will be fitted with PW-1400 engines.

On April 15th An-124 Ruslan transport aircraft delivered MS-21 fuselage center section to Irkutsk Aviation Plant (branch of Irkut Corporation) in order to start assembly of the first MS-21 flying prototype. The section was developed and manufactured by AeroComposit in the network of the project for development of MS-21 short- and medium-haul airliner implemented by United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), press-service of AeroComposite reports.

“This component is special, because it includes panels made of polymer composites using automated distribution of a dry carbon tape and a vacuum infusion technology. AeroComposit is the first company in the world to use this technology for production of load-carrying components of an aircraft wing, like spars, wingbox panels and fuselage center section panels. Usage of vacuum infusion technology allows not only reducing the component’s weight, but also creating an improved geometry of the wing – so-called “high aspect ratio wing». According to experts, an aircraft fitted with such wing delivers 6-8% in fuel savings,” the press-service explained.

In the network of the project for development of MS-21 wing Aerocomposit-Ulyanovsk enterprise has already manufactured front and rear spars as well as drainage tanks. At present the front and rear sections of the wing are being assembled. High-lift devices will be delivered by KAPO-Composit.
