BEIJING: Officials from India and China on Monday embarked on two days of negotiations with the goal of resuming joint military exercises this year and that signal increased trust levels between Beijing and New Delhi. Such exercises were stopped in 2009 over the issue of China issuing stapled visas to residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The two sides reviewed ongoing measures to ensure peace and tranquility on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between the two countries, since this is a strategic understanding between the two governments," a statement by the Indian embassy in Beijing said after the meeting between officials of the two countries led by defence secretary Sashi Kant Sharma and General Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of China's central military commission.
北京：1月14日，印度和中国开始着手两天的谈判，旨在今年恢复联合军事演习。这发出了一个信号，即北京和新德里的互信有所增强。2009年中国向查馍克什米尔的居民发放另纸签证，此类演习随之终止。

"The two sides agreed upon a plan of bilateral military exchanges for 2013, including their next joint military exercise," it said, reporting on the 5th India-China Annual Defence Dialogue. They agreed to hold the next ADD in New Delhi at a convenient time.
During the talks, Xu said the two countries have enough wisdom and ability to handle their relationship and are able to pave a healthy and stable development path for it, the official Xinhua news agency said.
China wants to "promote the strategic partnership for peace and prosperity and make a positive contribution to world and regional peace and stability" it said.
Sharma said that consultations between the two sides should focus on commonalities which outweigh differes.
声明指出，“中印双方就包括下次联合军演在内的2013年双边军事交流的计划达成一致。”声明就第五届中印年度国防对话(ADD)做了报告。双方同意方便时候在新德里举行下一届中印年度国防对话。
在会谈中，许其亮称，中印都有足够的智慧和能力处理好彼此的关系，努力使双边关系沿着健康稳定的轨道发展，新华社报道称。
中国愿推动两国面向和平与繁荣的战略伙伴关系持续稳定发展，维护地区乃至世界的和平稳定做出积极努力。
夏尔马也表示，中印双方应该集中于双方的共同立场，双方的共同利益大于分歧 。

China ,phillipines,Indonesia,Malaysia are far eastern countries and all of them have some problem with islamic fundamentalist. China being ally of Pakistan and considered as epicentre of terrorism activities have compelled china to look for balance of power with India. Besides India imports bulk of items from China which are much cheaper and both countries have become major trading partners. China with so much development of infrastructure has become a tourist attraction. With the granting of visa with ease many Indian tourist visit china mainland cities,hongkong, Makau etc .etc. Hence chinese leaders have realised that India is different and strong country and keep aside these border issues. They can not gain anything from Pakistan. They simply sell them weapons and god knows they may be utilised by themselves as their defence forces have islamic ideology and hidden agenda.

Confidence building measures such as this one between India and China is very important inspite of the fact that China is behind Maoist insurgency and incursion into Indian torritories in North and North -east. Distrust creates more tension, especially when India is going with US for joint petrolling in Indian Ocean and Asia Pacific region. This will allay lot of their fears that India is anti-China. However, as always India need to be vigilant about Chinese activities around the region and raise matter of any concern with them in appropriate forums. Dialogue and co-operation give both a chance to dispel any misunderstanding and move forward. However, this should not lead to complacency and ignore the immediate past. Strengthening Indian borders must continue unrelented, irrespective of such co-oprations.
