I think China can upgrade Iranian F-14's engine.The Iranian F-14s use Pratt & Whitney TF30-P-414 Afterburning turbofan engine, its detal information is:
Length: 5987mm
Diameter: 1293mm maximum external
Dry weight: 1905kg
Maximum Thrust: 93.17kN with afterburner
Let's see the Chinese WS-9 Afterburning turbofan engine's information:
Length: 5205 mm
Diameter: 1093 mm maximum external
Dry weight: 1842 kg
Maximum Thrust: 55.4 kN military thrust, and 94.95 kN with afterburner
I think China can help Iran to change their F-14's engine form TF30 to WS-9, this can upgrade Iranian F-14's power greatly.

I think you've got ur engines confused...WS9 is a clone of British Spey Engine and has a thrust of 20,500lbs...which is less than the TF30 20,900lbs of thrust...the WS10 would be a much better choice...

I did not comfused, the engine I am talking is WS9, not WS10. Just as what you said, WS9 is the engine China produced by authorization of British Spey MK202. American had produced Spey MK202 by authorization too, its name is TF41. American had upgraded its afterburn thrust to 110KN+, and its mass flow is 118kg/s, similiar to TF30. American Navy had considered to use it to change the F-14's TF30. I think, now China can develop an edition of WS9 just like TF41, it can fit your need.

There actually is an improved WS9 in the works (according to Chinese internet sources) but replacing the TF30 with the regular WS9 would be pointless thats the point I was making...The two engines weigh almost the same and have nearly identical thrust so in its current form the WS9 would be a terrible replacement. The WS10 would be the best replacement, it has similar diameter to TF30, weighs less and has much greater thrust and its already in production.

New engines or not, Iran should pursue an upgrade program similar to the Super Tomcat 21. This upgrade was proposed by Grumman included improved engines, upgraded APG-71 radar, FLIR, Electro-Optic systems, improved control surfaces (which reduced its stall speed) and increased its manueverability.

I did not comfused, the engine I am talking is WS9, not WS10. Just as what you said, WS9 is the engine China produced by authorization of British Spey MK202. 老美的TF41是山寨斯贝的升级版本？？？
呵呵，看了下，好象大家错误全不少
当年想参与F-14替代发动机选型的是TF-41 M912-B32/B32B，没有什么B52
最大军推17189LBS，加力推力27835LBS，12.6吨左右，准备采用大量先进材料什么的，估计推比会提高不少，起码重量不会比TF-30高多少，否则无法满足要求的。
当年竞争要求的加力推力是28千磅，参与的是PW的PW-1128，GE的F110-GE-100。

伊朗有钱，但是也吃尽了用外国装备的苦头，所以伊朗也一直试图建立一个即时不怎么先进但也五脏俱全的军工体系，八成他也在研究发动机呢........

飞豹既然已经不准备生产太多，那么WS9的生产任务以后也不会太多了。中国唯一RR血统的发动机总要有个下文啊。
