U.S. military participates in Singapore Air Show

2/19/2008 - CHANGI NORTH, Singapore  -- The United States military is participating in the Singapore Air Show which began Feb. 19. A cross-section of aircraft and equipment are on static display to include F-15C, F-16CJ and F/A-18C multi-role fighters, a WC-130J weather reconnaissance aircraft, KC-135 tanker and B-1B bomber. In addition, Pacific Air Force's F-16 demonstration team and Pacific Fleet's F/A-18 demonstration team are performing daily.

"Demonstrating the quality of our Air Force is important to the United States' relationship with Singapore, other nations, and their air forces," said Bruce S. Lemkin, the Air Force deputy under secretary for international affairs. "Being here gives us the opportunity to interact with our partners from around the world and establish those important Airman to Airman relationships. We're appreciative the efforts our Aimen and their commands have made to get here to help support this great air show."

Singapore has hosted Asia's largest aerospace air show for the past 26 years. More than 500 companies from 34 countries, including more than 150 companies from the United States, are participating in the Singapore Air Show. Through participation in international air and trade shows and other regional events, the United States demonstrates its commitment to the security of the Asia-Pacific region, promotes standardization and interoperability of equipment, and displays capabilities critical to the success of current and future military operations.

The Singapore Air Show runs through Feb. 24.
