Gripen was the first of a new generation of combat aircraft to enter service. It is the most capable and cost-effective supersonic multi-role fighter available today. Gripen is being considered by a number of countries, to meet their 21st century defence needs.
Designed from the outset as a totally integrated weapon system, Gripen provides an affordable, globally interoperable, multi-role / swing-role airborne defense capability to complete all known and perceived missions for decades to come. The Gripen weapon system can perform many air defense and air superiority missions, including within and beyond visual range combat, class-leading offensive air support, using various equipment such as stand-off and precision guided munitions, anti-shipping missions, reconnaissance and advanced tactical training capabilities.
