TEHRAN (FNA)- An explosion struck a speedboat carrying Maldives President Abdulla Yameen near the capital of Male, reports said, adding the head of state was unhurt.
Yameen was not reportedly injured in the incident, Reuters said.

However, the First Lady Fathmath Ibrahim, a presidential aide, and a bodyguard were injured and are being treated at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The boat was transporting the president from the airport on his return from a trip to Saudi Arabia, where he had completed the Hajj pilgrimage.

Others aboard the speedboat included cabinet ministers and MPs. The explosion occurred as the boat docked. Witnesses say they heard glass shattering.
