BEIJING (Reuters) - China's first aircraftcarrier officially entered service on Tuesday and the Defense Ministry said itwould help project maritime power and defend Chinese territory.

The handover of the vessel comes as Chinaand Japan are embroiled in a dispute over islands they both claim and China isconcerned over renewed U.S. military interest in Asia.

The carrier, called the Liaoning, was originally purchased from Ukraine and has undergone extensive renovation in theChinese port of Dalian.

It’s a tiny carrier that was partially completed by theSoviet Union, sat in docks for decades, and has recently been finished by theChinese. The main issue is China doesn't have a bloody clueabout how to operate it, or have its pilots land on the swaying deck in themiddle of the ocean.That and itwas made in Russia/China.

The U.S. spends five times more on defense than all thenations of the world put together. China depends on trade and it wants to besure that it can keep it's sealanes open. Remember that japan and russia notthe U.S. are it's old enemies. The U.S.. has a long history of friendship withChina. Except when Macarthur thought he could violateChinese territory in the 50's. Despite all the bumps in the road we are friendsand business partners. China bought a trillion dollars’ worth of U.S. goodslast year. This is a showpiece nothing more. Carriers are so outdated. Modernelectronic warfare reduces them to nothing but floating targets for shipkilling missiles. It is amazing that a nation that is so heavily terrified hascitizens so easily frightened.

The main issue is China doesn't have a bloody clueabout how to operate it, or have its pilots land on the swaying deck in themiddle of the ocean.That and itwas made in Russia/China.

The U.S. spends five times more on defense than all thenations of the world put together. China depends on trade and it wants to besure that it can keep it's sealanes open. Remember that japan and russia notthe U.S. are it's old enemies. The U.S.. has a long history of friendship withChina. Except when Macarthur thought he could violateChinese territory in the 50's. Despite all the bumps in the road we are friendsand business partners. China bought a trillion dollars’ worth of U.S. goodslast year. This is a showpiece nothing more. Carriers are so outdated. Modernelectronic warfare reduces them to nothing but floating targets for shipkilling missiles. It is amazing that a nation that is so heavily terrified hascitizens so easily frightened.
